How YouTube Hashtags Work
YouTube displays up to 3 hashtags above your video title when you include them in your description. These hashtags are clickable and take viewers to a feed of videos using the same tag — giving your content additional discovery surface beyond search.
You can include up to 60 hashtags in a description, but YouTube recommends using no more than 3 to 5 highly relevant ones. Overusing hashtags can lead to YouTube ignoring all of them entirely. Focus on specific niche hashtags rather than overly broad ones like #youtube or #video.
