What is a YouTube Channel ID?

Every YouTube channel has a unique ID starting with UC followed by 22 characters — for example UCxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. This ID is permanent and never changes, even if the channel changes its name or handle.

Channel IDs are used with the YouTube Data API to fetch subscriber counts, video lists, and analytics. They're also used to build RSS feed URLs for channels and to create direct subscription links.

Handle vs Channel ID

YouTube introduced @handles in 2022 as a human-readable alternative to channel IDs. While handles are great for sharing, most developer tools and APIs still require the full UC... channel ID. This tool extracts whichever identifier is present in the URL you paste.
